Emergency response at Ayrshire beach after report of 'person in the water'

A man has been traced safe and well at an Ayrshire beach after crews raced to an emergency incident.

Fire crews, police and ambulance were all scrambled to Barassie beach, near Troon earlier today after reports were made of a "person in the water".

Police have confirmed that a man was traced safe and well, before being checked by paramedics at the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.05pm on Monday, March 13 we were made aware of a person in the water near North Shore Road, Troon.

“The man was traced safe and well, and was checked over by paramedics at the scene.”

Scottish Fire and Rescue have confirmed they sent two appliances to the scene.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 2.50pm on Monday, March 13 to reports of a person in the water on North Shore Road, Troon.

"Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances to the scene, where crews assisted emergency service partners.

"One male casualty was handed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.

"We currently remain in attendance."
