Emergency like situation in Maharashtra: Raosaheb Danve

AURANGABAD: Referring to the alleged attack on BJP leader Kirit Somaiya and “wrongful” arrest of the Rana couple — MP Navneet Rana and MLA Ravi Rana — Union minister Raosaheb Danve on Sunday said Maharashtra has been witnessing an Emergency like situation.

“The common citizens of Maharashtra are also worried about the deteriorating law and order situation in Maharashtra. The state is heading on the path of Bihar where law and order was the worst in the past,” he said while speaking to the reporters.

The BJP leader said the Shiv Sena leadership could have easily engaged in talks with the Rana couple. “Instead, they tried to misuse the power by wrongfully arresting them and fabricating charges against them,” he said.

Danve, who is the minister of state for Railways, also accused the ruling MVA government of tarnishing the image of the Maharashtra police.

“Our police has a global reputation. However, the state government is exerting undue pressure on the police machinery and hampering their work. It is evident if we go by incidents that occurred in the past month,” he said, highlighting that no offence was registered in connection with the alleged assault on Somaiya in Pune or the attack on BJP rally in Mumbai.

Danve also said that people of Maharashtra would teach a lesson to the ruling parties.

“The then central government was toppled after it declared an Emergency in the country. The ruling MVA government is going to witness the same fate,” he said.
