Details on how you are able to apply for the Northern Ireland Emergency Fuel Payment will be released on Thursday morning.
The Department for Communities, in collaboration with Bryson Charitable Group, the Consumer Council and a range of local energy companies will contribute £2million to an Emergency Fuel Payment Scheme.
It comes as homes across Northern Ireland are seeing a spike in their energy costs.
The scheme aims to benefit 20,000 vulnerable families and help ease the heavy burden of energy price rises this winter.
It will provide emergency financial support to meet their energy costs and where it is essential, to protect people’s mental health and physical well-being.
The scheme will launch on Thursday, January 6, however no details have been released regarding how you are able to apply for it.
The Department for Communities has said that Bryson Energy will be operating the scheme, but it will not be releasing details on how it can be applied for until it has officially launched. This includes a link to the application process.
A statement on its website says: "Full eligibility criteria, along with the application process, will be published on the Bryson Charitable Group website at scheme launch on January, 6, 2022.
"The link to the website and application will also be made known to Energy Suppliers, local government, and community organisations at this time to enable sign-posting for support."
