Emergency crews rush to smash on M8 sliproad at Paisley

Emergency crews are currently on the scene after a car collided with a barrier at the M8 slip road at Paisley.

One lane is closed heading westbound at junction 27 following the smash, which happened around 9.55am.

A large number of emergency crews have been on the scene directing traffic.

Delays are expected in the area for some time.

Police Scotland spokesman said: "Around 10.45am, officers were called to a report of a road crash involving one car on the westbound M8 near J27 at Renfrew.

"Police and ambulance attended. One man will be taken to hospital and the vehicle will be removed."

Traffic Scotland said: "Junction 27 offslip westbound is closed due to an RTC. Lane 1 of 3 is also closed on the main carriageway. Take care and use alternative routes.

"The Trunk Road Incident Support Service are on scene."

The accident adds to traffic issues throughout Renfrewshire this morning after a section of the A737 was closed following a gas leak.
