A woman was taken to hospital on Monday after suffering minor injuries during a unit fire at Wallsend.
Three of Newcastle's NSW Fire and Rescue stations dispatched crews to the suburb just after 3pm Monday after reports of black smoke coming from a building.
Fire crews remained on the scene past 4.30pm, but a spokesperson for NSW Fire and Rescue said all occupants were out of the building when crews arrived and the fire was extinguished a short time later.
The fire was reported to have broken out in one unit, and caused some damaged to adjacent units, but the spokesperson said there was no serious structural damage to the building.
NSW Police and Ambulance were also on the scene.
