Two areas of Liverpool have been placed under emergency coronavirus restrictions following a spike in infections.
After a worrying rise in cases last week, a mobile testing centre has been setup in the Princes Park council ward area, with new lockdown rules in place.
Anyone in Princes Park should not visit any other households unless it is essential and to maintain social distancing at all times.
People are also strongly advised not to stay overnight in a household you don't live in - even if they are family, the Liverpool Echo reports.
Visits at care homes in the area have also been suspended and events and gatherings have been cancelled.
Those considered vulnerable to the virus and on the government's shielding list are being advised to remain isolated from others.
Earlier today, the council expanded restrictions around visits to care homes in the Greenbank and Picton council ward areas.
The two areas now fall under part of the city's ‘enhanced outbreak control action plan’, which is designed to rapidly control the spread of the virus, protect vulnerable communities and the elderly in the area.
A council spokesperson said: "It is really important we don’t let the sacrifices and progress of the last few months go to waste and we are being proactive and acting fast to prevent the further spread of cases in this area.
"The work we are doing now will hopefully pay dividends in terms of preventing the need for further restrictions such as a local lockdown, which would inevitably cause much more hardship."
A pop up walk-in test centre in in place at Princes Park Health Centre, in the car park off Kingsley Road, which people can drop in to from 9am-4pm if they have symptoms, without the need to book an appointment.
Other measures in place mean community buildings in the areas are to remain closed, with upcoming gatherings and events suspended.
Cafés, bars and restaurants are being given additional advice around appropriate public health measures.
The impact of the new measures will be reviewed in 14 days and extended if necessary.
