Emeli Sande opens up about motherhood plans after finding love with Yoana Karemova

Emeli Sande has shared her hope of starting a family with her girlfriend, classical pianist Yoana Karemova.

The 35-year-old My Kind Of Love singer says she is figuring out how she can balance her career as a chart topping songstress with hopes of beginning a family.

Emily revealed back in March that she had embarked on a relationship with a woman having previously been married to marine biologist Adam Gouraguine from 2012 until 2014.

Emali has explained that she hopes she can one day begin a family with her girlfriend Yoana, but adds that she would also be happy focusing on music if a future as a parent doesn’t manifest.

She told The Sun: “I’d love to have a child one day.

“It’s that balance – you want to get better at what you do, you want to keep pushing at your career, but at the same time you are a woman.

"If it happens then fantastic. But if I’m supposed to dedicate myself to my music, then so be it. Hopefully one day we can start a family.”

Emily has previously opened up about her joy at finding love with Yoana and how she planned to settle down with the love of her life.

She told Metro in March: "We met through music. And I definitely feel happier than ever. It feels great.

“For me, true love and having love in your life makes everything fit into place."

While in April, Emeli shared a snap of herself alongside Yoana on social media.

Uploading the snap to Instagram, Emeli captioned the snap: “It’s taken me many years to find the strength to be myself. I’ve struggled for a long time to accept myself as I am.

"I’m so lucky to have found my soul mate Yoana, she’s such an extraordinary woman! Falling in love with her gave me the strength I needed! Feels so good to be in love and I feel happier than ever."

The award winning vocalist added: "I’m deeply touched by all your messages of love and support. Thank you so much for your acceptance and kind wishes. Feels like a huge weight has been lifted, here’s to a new beginning in truth and happiness!"

Fans and fellow celebs shared their delight over Emeli’s happy romantic news.

Former Radio One DJ Annie Mac was one of the first to comment on the emotional post, telling the star: "Oh Emeli! What a beautiful revelation - wishing you and Yoana all the happiness together xx."

Newly-engaged Nick Grimshaw added "Beautiful. Congratulations", while Destiny's Child singer Kelly Rowland gushed: "I AM BEYOND HAPPY FOR YOU!! Congratulations!!!!!!"

Emily previously discussed the collapse of her marriage, telling The Times: "Everyone thought I'd gone mad. 'What do you mean a divorce? We were all at your wedding a few months ago!'

"But there was just something inside me that said, 'This isn't the life. You're pretending to be someone else.'

"And that's so hard to explain to someone. I can't even explain it now.

"I just felt I had to wake up. I'd been sleeping and things were happening. I could get up on stage and sing but, I don't know, it was just a real ... I don't want to call it a breakdown, but it felt like that."
