Dakota Johnson has had a rollercoaster year, so far. From picking up a Razzie Award to navigating a high-profile breakup. The Fifty Shades star recently revealed that none other than Sandra Bullock has reached out.
Bullock won a Worst Actress Razzie in 2010 for All About Steve - a panned romantic comedy. Just a few days later, she won the Oscar for Best Actress for her role in The Blind Side (2009). It was a famously rare Razzie-to-Oscar turnaround.
Razzies, the tongue-in-cheek ceremony that “honours” Hollywood’s worst performances and flops.
Knowing first-hand the humiliation, the star sent voice note of support to after Johnson after she bagged her own Razzie for Madame Web, which bombed at the box office, earning just $43 million domestically and an 11% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Sony superhero flop also snagged Worst Picture and Worst Screenplay at Razzies. Playing Cassandra Webb, a paramedic-turned-futurist, Johnson found herself leading a widely panned film.
On Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast, Johnson shared the surprising message from Bullock. “I freaked out getting this message from her because she’s so iconic to me, like a movie star,” Johnson said.
Bullock reached out with warm words and even joked about starting a “Razzie club” brunch, a nod to their shared dubious “honour.”
But Johnson, who is the daughter of actors Melanie Griffiths and Don Johnson, insists the blame doesn’t lie with her.

In a recent Los Angeles Times interview, she explained how “creative decisions are made by committee,” often diluting the artistic vision.
The final Madame Web cut was “a completely different script” from the one she signed on for, calling the experience “a crazy journey” for an actor who puts their heart and soul into their roles.
“I’m just sort of along for the ride,” Johnson told Poehler, shrugging off the Razzie with a healthy dose of self-awareness. “What am I gonna do? Cry about Madame Web? No.”

Johnson recent disappointment is reportedly her very public split from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. The couple, who have been linked on and off for years, recently confirmed their breakup, adding another headline to Johnson’s 2025.
Johnson and Martin are said to have called time on their relationship, with sources close to the couple saying the split “feels final this time.”
The Fifty Shades of Grey actress and Coldplay frontman, 48, were first linked in 2017 and have shared a home in Malibu for several years. They were last seen together publicly in May, and before that, during a trip to India in January.
