'Embarrassing' teens filmed trying to damage police car at KFC and fall over

Teenagers have been caught on camera trying to damage a police car after an incident outside a KFC restaurant in Caernarfon.

Thye have been branded an “embarrassment” after the incident which saw trouble take place inside the restaurant, before spilling over into the street outside and nearby area.

CCTV shows a youth running towards a police vehicle and launching himself at it feet first. Embarrassingly, he then topples over.

Officers were called to KFC on Pool Street, Caernarfon , at around 8.30pm on Saturday night after youths were reported to be causing trouble inside.

The teens then spilled onto the nearby Maes after being asked to leave the venue - where they continued to behave badly.

It is alleged other teens who fled from the scene then tipped a large recycling bin in front of officers in a bid to get away.

A witness told how others became “abusive by shouting and laughing and pulling middle fingers” at police.

Speaking to North Wales Live, they said: “We saw police turn up outside KFC and they went inside. Then another police car pulled up before a police van straight after.

“All the kids were hanging around the fountain and then two young lads started running towards the car and kicking it - one after the other.

“They did it about three or four times but I only managed to get a small clip.

“The police then came out after seeing what they were doing and sent them from there.

“The kids ran to the other side of Y Maes and then tipped over a big red recycling bin in front of the police to stop them going after them.

“Shortly after I saw a young lad in a red coat being arrested and then started getting abusive and tried to get away from the police.

“They restrained him and put him in handcuffs. I’ve been told he was approximately 13-year-olds.

“After that the police tried to make them all leave the Maes but the kids were getting abusive by shouting and laughing and pulling middle fingers at them.

“For a short period it was a bit out of control but they soon had control and then the kids finally left.”

They added: “It was disgusting behaviour. The lack of respect from those young teenagers was embarrassing.

“We see them behaving like this all the time. They have no respect for the police or the public around Caernarfon and they think they can do as they wish.

“The language they were using was horrific for kids their age. I would be so ashamed if my children behaved like that.

“We would never have got away with behaving like that at their age. It’s embarrassing for Caernarfon.”

As a result of the incident, KFC said no youths would be allowed inside the branch unless they were accompanied by an adult.

North Wales Police are also urging parents to ensure they know where their children are to prevent further incidents.
