Notts County fans slammed the players after their shock FA Trophy defeat to Hornchurch in Ian Burchnall's first game in charge.
Goals from Kyle Wootton, Ruben Rodrigues and Elisha Sam gave Notts the lead three times, but the Isthmian League part-timers fought back again and again.
Liam Nash scored twice, including a 91st minute equaliser to take the tie to penalties. Hornchurch scored all of their spot kicks, winning 4-3 after Jake Reeves missed for the Magpies.
The performance angered Notts fans as they reacted on Twitter.
Gary Phillips : They weren’t good enough in all of the game. Having more possession means sod all if you give it away in dangerous areas and don’t create or score enough. I think it was such a bad idea to play the supposed first team. If Doyle is now injured this tinpot cup could’ve cost us badly.
Jake Squire: It's every game we are embarrassing!! There was no need to sack Ardley and time will tell with Ian but he needs to get results and quick otherwise we will just rot in this league going nowhere fast.
Dan : Diabolical from us but you have to give Hornchurch credit. They've fought for every inch today and our players should be hanging their heads in shame.
Scott Waite: Taking Enzio off was an awful decision.
John Phillis: Second half woeful. Midfield needs sorting and quickly
Adam Reddish: Firstly, well done @HornchurchFC. You were a credit to your club. As for our players, I suggest they find a mirror to stare at. I’m convinced Birchnall didn’t tell them to play at half-pace throughout that game, but it looked like they chose to manage things their own way.
Sam_GDT: Not good, obviously. Weird things happen in the cup, however, and the new man has only been there a few days. Main worry; we have been strong at the back, and sometimes struggled to score. Giving up 3 goals (2 + a delflection), and 3 leads, in the first game is not good.
