'Embarrassing' - Man United fan fumes at transfer stance on James Maddison amid Spurs links

Manchester United are reportedly optimistic of a deal for James Maddison in the summer.

According to the MEN, the Leicester and England midfielder has been identified as the ideal signing by United as they continue their recruitment reboot next year.

Maddison's rise in English football has been nothing short of incredible after working his way through the lower leagues right to the top.

The midfielder played for Coventry in League One in the 2015/16 season and Norwich City in the Championship in 2016/17 and 17/18, along with a loan spell in the Scottish Premiership with Aberdeen, before joining Leicester in 2018.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a fine debut season in the Premier League last year, scoring seven goals and providing seven assists.

Maddison has also been linked with Tottenham in recent transfer windows, and the midfielder has made no secret of the fact that he would like to play at an even higher level despite Leicester's excellent start to the season.

"I want to play at the highest level my ability will allow me to.

"I like to think I’ve my head screwed on with the transfers I’ve made. I’ve played League One, in Scotland, the Championship and the Premier League. I worked my way up."

With the reports that Manchester United are confident of a deal for the Foxes star, the reaction from fans was not entirely positive, with some supporters believing the midfielder to be overpriced. Some took to social media to express their disappointment.
