'Embarrassing!' Arsenal's Kieran Tierney 'bid' slaughtered by Celtic hero John Hartson

John Hartson has slaughtered former club Arsenal's reported £15million offer for Kieran Tierney.

It's claimed the Gunners have made their opening move for the Celtic full-back but fell well short of the Premiership champions' valuation.

The Scotland star has also attracted interest from Leicester City and Napoli but Celtic could demand as much as £25m.

And Hartson, who played for both the Hoops and Arsenal, reckons the Premier League club should be left red-faced by what's been put on the table.

Taking to Twitter, Hartson said: "My old club Arsenal testing the waters with reported 15m bid for Kt.

"Celtic don’t want to sell besides that in this current market 15m is an embarrassment to the player and his ability."

Parkhead boss Neil Lennon admits he's expecting offers for his top stars this summer, with Callum McGregor and Olivier Ntcham also among them.

But the Irishman hopes to fend off interest from elsewhere as he looks to build for a ninth straight league title.

He said: "I would expect bids. We’re realistic and I’d be surprised if there weren’t any offers for them, put it that way because they’re both extremely talented players.

“So I may have a decision to make but there’s been nothing for us to think about yet. For someone so young, Kieran already has vast experience – he’s played Champions League, Europa League, internationals and he’s won trophies.

“I don’t think he would fear going anywhere but, personally, it would be a wrench for him because the club means so much to him.

“However, we’ll cross that bridge if and when we come to it but we don’t want to lose him.”
