A woman's faith in humanity has been restored after a complete stranger helped her out when she was feeling unwell on public transport - and she has now thanked the person in a heartfelt letter.
The woman was travelling on the London Underground when she suddenly felt unwell and started to vomit, a situation most people would hate to be in.
The London Tube is a place where strangers notoriously avoid eye contact, and certainly don't usually talk to each other.
But luckily, a stranger defied expectations and came to her rescue, and the anonymous woman took to Reddit to thank them for their kindness.
In the recent post, the woman wrote: "Thank you to the lovely lady who helped me get off the tube."
The post continue: "So, I was on the tube on Tuesday and suddenly felt really unwell," adding that she had "suddenly felt really hot, like a hot flush.
"I ended up throwing up, which was super gross and embarrassing. I just wanted to crawl into a hole and hide."
The woman wasn't sure what had caused it - it could have been the weather or something she had eaten - but either way she felt "pretty embarrassed about the whole thing".
Luckily, an "amazing woman named Alex" helped her off the Tube and found a member of staff who could help her out further.
She continued: "Shoutout to them both for being compassionate and reminding me there are still some lovely humans out there."
"Anyway, I'm feeling pretty embarrassed about the whole thing, so if anyone has any funny embarrassing stories to share, please do."
Forum users obliged by sharing their own embarrassing stories from being ill in public, with one person saying: "I drunkenly puked on the tube many years ago and a very well dressed man gave me an immaculate pressed hankie.
"I did offer it back but he said 'no, you keep it'. I was mortified, but everyone was so nice, even though I was a mess."
Another shared: "A friend threw up in the middle of the Champs-Élysées intersection and stopped traffic."
A third added: "I had a funny turn on the Piccadilly line last year during the heatwave. My vision went fuzzy and I felt close to fainting, I got off the train and leant my head against the platform tiled walls to cool down.
"So many people stopped to ask if I needed help; and helped me sit down etc. Lovely people."
