Embarrassed couple mistakenly hinted that they were swingers while on holiday

Many people make friends while on their holidays.

It is a frequent time to make new friendships as you bond during a time of rest and relaxation.

However, one woman has gone viral after describing what happened on her recent holiday with her husband - where some fellow guests were apparently very friendly, as reported by the Mirror.

TikTok user Linda shared that she had bought matching swimsuits for her and her husband for their holiday.

The swimsuits were emblazoned with pineapples - and seemed perfect for a vacation.

But the couple were left confused after people "were a little extra nice."

And it turns out it was because the juicy fruit is reportedly used by people interested in swinging. Who knew?!

An expert previously told the Mirror how the fruit is used as a signal - most commonly at a person's home, in the form of a door knocker.

According to Reddit, couples wearing pineapple print on clothing while on a cruise also indicates they are keen swingers.

In this case, the hidden meaning of the fruit was unknown to Linda, who said she just thought the swimsuits were "cute."

Her video describing the mortifying incident went viral and racked up more than 2.4 million views.

One viewer joked: "Y'all wondering why you're so popular."

Another commented: "I just realised I made my boyfriend wear a pineapple shirt, and I wore a pineapple dress while on vacation two years ago."

"Our group learnt the same thing while in Hawaii recently, we had no idea," added another.

Luckily one swinger clarified in the comments: "We are lifestyle and have been for years. The pineapple thing is more of a joke.

"We certainly don't assume and definitely don't approach random pineapples."
