'Embarrassed' and 'gutted' - Nottingham Forest fans' disbelief as play-off dream lies in tatters

'Gutted'

'Heartbroken'

'Same old Forest'

'I’m done with football'

All descriptive words that give a flavour of how Nottingham Forest supporters were feeling on Wednesday night after the latest capitulation.

They were worried before kick-off, and those concerns came to pass for Reds fans who witnessed their side capitulate in the final 20 minutes of their Championship season.

Despite coming back from a goal down to level it at 1-1 in the second half, Sabri Lamouchi’s Reds conspired to throw away any hope of a play-off campaign.

Forest were thumped 4-1 at home by Stoke City, while Swansea were 4-1 winners at Reading to overtake the Reds and snatch sixth-place at the death, in the most dramatic of finishes.

That’s the Reds’ season ended, just like that.

No play-offs, no Wembley final, no promotion to the Premier League in their best season since 2011.

Just emptiness, devastation and the realisation that supporting this football club can be a tough, tough assignment.

Here’s what fans have been saying as they digested the latest City Ground shock.
