Elyounoussi and Ajer Celtic return latest as breaking Norwegian laws could carry 'fines and prison time'

Breaching Norway's coronavirus rules could 'carry fines and even time in prison' under Norwegian law.

The Norway national squad, including Celtic pair Mohamed Elyounoussi and Kris Ajer, have been told to self isolate for ten days after Omar Elabdellaoui tested positive last week.

The team were ordered not to travel to Romania by the Norwegian government, but Lars Lagerback’s squad were already on the plane for Bucharest when they were told their Nations League clash was called off.

Under Norway's covid-19 guidelines, the players are required to quarantine for ten days, but are allowed to return to their clubs.

Elyounoussi and Ajer arrived in Glasgow yesterday, but it remains to be seen if they will self-isolate and potentially miss this weekend's Premiership clash with Hibs.

Fans believe now they are back on Scottish soil, they are not required to follow Norway's hardline stance and the responsibility now lies with the Scottish government whether they need to quarantine.

But multiple reports in Norway and Germany claim if Norway's players were to feature for their clubs this weekend, they would be violating Norway's quarantine rules which could potentially carry fines and even pirson time under Norweigan law.

Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland is another player in this situation, but has returned two negative tests upon his arrival back in Germany.

And the Bundesliga side feel he should be in the clear for this weekend if he completes a third one as Germany rules 'supersede' those in Norway.

Celtic will need to make a decision on their star pair, but it's yet another covid complication for the champions.

Odsonne Edouard, Hatem Abd Elhamed and Nir Bitton all tested positive last month on international duty and were forced to self-isolate.
