Elvis Presley looks set for an orchestral makeover. A new album will feature the music of “The King” with fresh backing from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, adding instrumental heft to classic tracks such as Love Me Tender, It’s Now Or Never and Burning Love.

If I Can Dream: Elvis Presley with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is also set to feature additional vocalists, with Michael Bublé, Il Volo and Duane Eddy all confirmed to appear on the record.

“This is right down the alley for Elvis,” said Priscilla Presley, the singer’s former wife. “This is something he would have loved to do.”

Elvis may have been known as the king of rock’n’roll but Priscilla claims he had a large and varied collection of music and loved orchestral works. She said: “He wanted bigness, he wanted fullness, he wanted drama.”

As well as his big hits such as In the Ghetto, the album will feature lesser known Presley gems including his version of Bridge Over Troubled Water. The record, which was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, is due out in October.
