Elvis Presley's grandson found dead at the age of 27

The grandson of Elvis Presley has died at the age of 27.

Benjamin Keough was the son of the music legend's only child, Lisa Marie Presley.

Benjamin, who was also a musician, passed away on Sunday in Calabasas, California, reports The Mirror, leaving his mother "heartbroken".

New website TMZ has reported that Benjamin - whose father was Lisa Marie's first husband Danny Keough - died from a "self-inflicted gunshot wound".

In a statement, Lisa Marie's manager, Roger Widynowsk, declared her boy "the love of her life".

"She is completely heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated but trying to stay strong for her 11 year old twins and her oldest daughter Riley," it read. "She adored that boy. He was the love of her life."

Benjamin - who bore an uncanny resemblance to his grandfather, known as The King - kept himself mainly out of the spotlight for much of his life but he did sign a $5 million record deal when he was a teenager.

He made the deal in 2009 but it seems that he never quite made the big time with his music career and his output remains relatively unknown.

Not someone that had a huge social media presence, one of the last times that Benjamin was seen out with his family was at the 40-year death anniversary of Elvis, in a vigil at Graceland, in 2017.

Benjamin was born in Florida on October 21, 1992 and the most recent Instagram post from his mum featuring a pic of Ben was in June last year.

Lisa Marie shared a pic of her four children cuddled into her, captioning it with: "Mama Lion with cubs."

Lisa Marie has been married four times, most famously to Michael Jackson, and has twin girls with her fourth husband, music producer Michael Lockwood, as well as a daughter, Riley, with Keough.

She was also married to actor Nicolas Cage for two years from 2002 to 2004.

Lisa Marie married Keough, who was a bass player in Elvis Presley's ban, in 1988 but by 1994, the relationship had turned sour and they had a 'quickie divorce' in the Dominican Republic.

Just 20 days after the divorce, Lisa Marie married Michael Jackson, who she had first met in 1975, when she was seven years old.
