Benjamin Keough's neighbour has claimed that the 27-year-old's distressed girlfriend screamed "don't do it" before he shot himself in the chest on Sunday morning.
The grandson of icon Elvis Presley was pronounced dead at his $1.8million California mansion after suffering a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
In an audio heard by Daily Mail, a neighbour heard partying at the residence at 1am and a woman - suspected to be Ben's girlfriend - shouting “don’t do it” at around 3:30am.
The news outlet also reports that another local said authorities arrived to the scene at around 6am.
The resident said police questioned a visibly devastated woman, who is believed to be his girlfriend, just hours after his death.
The neighbour alleged: “I could hear somebody speaking really loud in the backyard. I looked outside and I saw what appeared to be his girlfriend outside talking to police, and she was pretty hysterical saying ‘I can't believe it.’
“She just kept swearing and saying, ‘I can't believe it, I can't believe it.' She was saying, ‘I can't believe he would do that to himself'."
The neighbour added: “She said, 'The family's going to hate me’ and ‘They're going to blame me.’ I think she was feeling guilty for it happening... but I don't want to speculate (as to) what caused it. That was around 6.30-7am. They were out there for about an hour talking.”
The tragic loss of the son of Lisa Marie and Danny Keough has left his mother "heartbroken."
In a statement, Lisa Marie's manager, Roger Widynowsk, declared her boy "the love of her life".
"She is completely heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated but trying to stay strong for her 11-year-old twins and her oldest daughter Riley," it read.
"She adored that boy. He was the love of her life."
Benjamin kept himself mainly out of the spotlight for much of his life but he did sign a $5million record deal when he was a teen.
He made the deal in 2009 but it seems that he never quite made the big time with his music career and his output remains relatively unknown.
What Ben was most known for is bearing an uncanny resemblance to his famous grandfather, who was known as The King.
