Eluned Morgan had a brutal dig at Westminster's rollout of Covid boosters in England

Eluned Morgan has criticised Boris Johnson's announcement of booster vaccinations.

He was criticised for announcing boosters would be offered to all adults by the end of December without consulting those who will be administering it.

In Tuesday's press conference, the health minister said there are 16,000 people able to vaccinate and conversations have been taking place over the weekend to draw up a strategy to avoid long queues outside vaccination centres, as has been seen in England.

She said: "We do things very differently here in Wales. We work things out before we announce which is how we avoid the chaotic scenes that we saw in England yesterday. We plan before we announce. That is precisely what we have been doing. We are asking for support from community pharmacies who are ready to step up. There are armies of people who are going to be helping out".

Mrs Morgan has previously criticised the Prime Minister for going into a hospital without a facemask. At the time she said it was "shocking" that the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom was pictured not wearing a mask, describing it as hypocritical to force people to get jabbed when the Prime Minister didn't wear one.

Dr Gillian Richardson, deputy chief medical officer for vaccines, confirmed it is an offer for vaccination being made by the end of December. "It is an offer that we'll be making. There's some people who aren't eligible for the booster dose until the end of December.

"We will be aiming to get everybody's offer out and for people to have their vaccination very shortly afterwards."

She said a request for 100 military personnel has been made as well as help from third sector organisations, medical students and healthcare staff from different sectors.

Dr Richardson said there also has to be time to train those people to administer vaccines but volunteers can fill a number of roles to assist with the effort.
