Elton's John's mother-in-law has died - two years after he lost his own mum.
The singer's husband, David Furnish, paid tribute to his mum on Instagram , writing: "Today I lost my beautiful, angelic Mother. She passed away peacefully in the middle of the night, with me and my brothers by her side.
"Mum radiated gentle kindness. She was utterly devoted to her family. We all richly benefited from her patient wisdom and bountiful love.
"I treasure this photo of Mum and Dad on their wedding day - bursting with joy and fresh-faced optimism over their union and the life they planned to build together."
David continued: "They shared the greatest love I have ever known; A rock-solid foundation from which my brothers and I flourished.
"Rest in peace Mum. You lived your life impeccably. I will never forget you. I promise to do my best to pass the gifts you gave to me on to my own beautiful sons."
The Canadian film-maker, 56, shared a picture of his mother and father on their wedding day.
He promised to pass on the lessons she taught him to his own sons with Sir Elton John.
The couple are parents to Elijah, six, and Zachary, eight.
A host of David's friends penned some messages of support in the comments section of the post.
Elizabeth Hurley wrote: "All our thoughts are with you, my precious friend."
While Susannah Constantine paid her respects: "Gladys - 24-carat goodness. She will live on in you, your boys and your brothers. Love, strength and prayers."
Dermot O'Leary commented: "Beautiful words David. My condolences. Big love."
Scissor Sisters star Jake Shears wrote: 'Sending so much love to you and your family. I’m so sorry. Your mom was such a sweet and gentle woman. And you have been the most loving son. Love you so much David.'
It's been a tough time for David and Elton over the past few years with family feuds and addictions.
The sad passing of David's mother comes almost two years after Elton lost his mother Sheila .
The British singing legend had finally reconciled with his mother following an eight-year long feud, before she passed away in December 2017.
At the time of her death, Elton wrote: "So sad to say that my mother passed away this morning."
"I only saw her last Monday and I am in shock. Travel safe Mum. Thank you for everything. I will miss you so much. Love, Elton."
The star lifted the lid on his love-hate relationship with mum Sheila, who passed away at the age of 92, in his recent autobiography, Me.
The singer got back in touch with his mum, nine years after they fell out following an argument that was sparked by Sheila’s refusal to cut off contact with two of her son’s oldest friends, Bob Halley and John Reid, after he fell out with them.
Bob had worked for Elton for three decades, first as a driver then later as a personal assistant, before he was fired as part of a series of changes the singer was making to his team.
After the pair's explosive fall-out in 2008, it was reported that Sheila blamed Elton’s husband David for turning her son against her.
