Elton John's final tour ends as legend admits he might perform again as a 'one-off'

Sir Elton John said goodbye to life on the yellow brick road with an emotional last gig ending a 50-year touring career.

The 76-year-old, real name Reginald Dwight, said he will “never be touring again” – but may do a “one-off thing” some time.

The Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour ended in Swedish capital Stockholm after 330 dates playing to over six million people since 2018, with the tour paused at various points due to the pandemic and the singer’s hip injury in 2021.

The Rocket Man legend will now be spending more time with husband David Furnish, 60, and their sons Zachary, 12, and Elijah, 10.

Sir Elton said his “priorities have changed” when he announced he was retiring from touring.

He ended his set with Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, which inspired the name of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.

The gig featured a live link up with Coldplay who were performing in Gothenburg, with Chris Martin telling the star: “From all the bands and artists you’ve helped and inspired, we love you so much. We are so grateful for everything you’ve done for the AIDS Foundation, anytime you’ve been kind to anybody.

“For everything you’ve done for LGBTQ. Everything you’ve done for fashion and eyewear. Everything you’ve done for sexiness, and love and dressing gowns! Everything you’ve done for music, everything Bernie has done for lyrics, everything your band has done over the thousands of shows you’ve done. We love you so much, we’re going to miss you so much.”
