CHICAGO _ Casey Mize walked Edwin Encarnacion to begin the second inning.
That was the only baserunner for the Chicago White Sox through five innings Friday night against the Detroit Tigers.
The Sox broke through with a hit _ and more _ in the sixth.
Yolmer Sanchez ended Mize's no-hit bid with a double to right. Eloy Jimenez hit a three-run homer off reliever Jose Cisnero later in the inning, and the Sox rallied for a 4-3 win at Guaranteed Rate Field.
The Sox (28-16) remained alone in first place in the American League Central.
Mize and Sox starter Lucas Giolito were locked in a duel through five innings. It changed in the sixth.
The Tigers scored three runs in the top of the inning. Jonathan Schoop scored on Jorge Bonifacio's sacrifice fly to center. Daz Cameron followed with a two-run single to right, the first hit of his career.
Giolito allowed three runs on four hits with seven strikeouts and four walks in 5 2/3 innings.
The Sox answered with four in the bottom of the inning.
Nomar Mazara began the comeback with a walk, and Sanchez followed with his double. Nick Madrigal grounded out to second, and Mazara scored to make it 3-1.
The Tigers brought in Cisnero, who hit Tim Anderson. Jimenez followed with his 12th homer of the season.
Mize allowed two runs on one hit with five strikeouts and two walks in 5 1/3 innings.
Jimenez went 2 for 4. Jose Abreu went 0 for 4, snapping his career-high 22-game hitting streak.
Evan Marshall (2-1) pitched 1 1/3 scoreless relief innings for the victory as the Sox improved to 7-1 against the Tigers this season.
