Eloy Jimenez hit two three-run homers and Lucas Giolito became the major leagues' first 10-game winner Friday night in a 10-2 victory against the Yankees.
Jimenez finished with a career-high six RBIs in front of 31,438 fans at Guaranteed Rate Field.
That was more than enough offense for Giolito (10-1), who allowed one run and four hits in six innings while striking out six and walking four. Giolito exited after allowing consecutive singles to begin the seventh on the way to winning his eighth consecutive start.
With the victory, the Sox returned to the .500 mark (34-34) for the first time since they were 3-3 on April 5.
Giolito's scoreless streak of 22 consecutive innings came to an end in the first, when Luke Voit homered to center field. It was the fifth homer Giolito has allowed this season.
The Sox responded with four runs in their half of the first. Jimenez supplied the big hit with a three-run homer to center off of CC Sabathia (3-4), who remained at 249 career wins.
Jimenez hit his second three-run homer in the sixth against Luis Cessa to stretch the lead to 10-1. The rookie slugger has 11 homers, including five in his last six games.
Jimenez's multi-homer game was his third. He hit the first two homers of his career April 12 at Yankee Stadium. He also hit two homers May 22 in Houston.
Jimenez had three of the team's 16 hits. Jose Abreu also had three hits, and Tim Anderson, Jose Rondon and Yolmer Sanchez added two apiece. Sanchez had two RBIs.
