Eloy Jiménez demolished this home run off Robbie Ray in a downpour

While they might have their flaws here and there (who doesn’t?), the White Sox aren’t short on power. It’s part of why some pundits think Chicago can go all the way this year. Between Luis Robert, Jose Abreu and Eloy Jiménez, that point certainly becomes hard to argue.

During a home game against the Mariners (+110) on Wednesday, where much of Chicago was submerged in a torrential downpour — including Guaranteed Rate Field — the White Sox put their power on full display. And it was Jiménez who obliged the spectating crowd through the rain and all.

Reigning AL Cy Young-winner Robbie Ray knew he messed up right away.

What an absolute bomb. It might not be clear in the initial clip, but Jiménez’s first home run of the season was indeed a thunderous clap through an ongoing rainstorm.

Here’s another angle to expel all doubt.

I don’t know about you, but hitting a ball into the bleachers as heavy water drenches everything is kind of, maybe, impressive? Oh, and it happened on Seattle’s ace? Yeah, it’s impressive. Let’s roll with that descriptor.
