Elon Musk To Require Federal Employees To Report Weekly Progress

Elon Musk, with Kelly Johnson

Elon Musk recently made a significant announcement regarding federal employees, stating that they will soon receive emails inquiring about their weekly accomplishments. Musk's decision comes in response to President Trump's call for a more aggressive approach in managing the federal workforce.

According to Musk, failure to respond to the email will be interpreted as a resignation. The specifics of the email, such as the deadline for responses and the recipients, have not been disclosed. It remains uncertain whether Musk's directive complies with legal regulations.

Musk, along with his Department of Government Efficiency, is actively involved in President Trump's initiative to overhaul the federal workforce. This initiative includes reducing the workforce size, replacing career employees with political appointees, eliminating certain civil service protections, and discontinuing diversity initiatives.

Non-response to the email will be considered as resignation.

Notably, the Trump administration recently offered federal workers buyouts, allowing them to resign and receive pay until the end of September. However, legal challenges arose, and unions cautioned workers about the uncertainty of receiving their pay. Despite this, a federal judge permitted the Trump administration to proceed with the plan temporarily.

Furthermore, thousands of federal employees have already been terminated across various departments, with additional terminations planned for the future.
