ELON Musk has told people to vote Republican in the US midterm elections on Twitter.
After buying the social media platform last month, Musk said his goal was to ensure the social network stands for free speech.
But within days the world’s richest man has sought to use Twitter to tell people how they should be voting.
He said: “To independent-minded voters: Shared power curbs the worst excesses of both parties, therefore I recommend voting for a Republican Congress, given that the Presidency is Democratic.”
The elections - held every two years - are for Congress which is made up of the House of Representatives and the Senate. They are referred to as mid-terms when they fall in the middle of the president's four-year term in office.

The Democratic Party has held the majority in both the House and the Senate for the past two years.
It's yet another controversial move by Musk since he acquired the firm in a $44 billion deal.
He laid off half the workforce last week before Twitter confirmed plans to allow users to buy blue-tick verified status for $8 a month.
The move has sparked fears it could lead the platform to be swamped with fake accounts claiming to be legitimate.
Musk has also said Twitter accounts engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying they are a parody will be permanently suspended.
