The richest person in the world, Elon Musk recently shared a picture of his bedside table with the caption, "My bedside table" on the micro-blogging site Twitter. This was followed by another tweet that read, "There is no excuse for my lack of coasters".
One can notice Diet Coke cans, toy guns, a glass bottle, and a stack of books in the picture. And one of the books in the stack appears to be George Washington's 'Rules of Civility and Decent Behaviour in Company and Conversation', as per a Business Insider India report.
Written by the first President of the USA, Washington's book 'Rules of Civility & Decent Behavior In Company and Conversation' initially "began as a school exercise in 1744", as per the book's blurb."Washington copied a translation of these rules by Francis Hawkins', which was first published in England around 1640... The majority of the 110 rules originated from a French etiquette manual written in 1959 by the Jesuits, who were members of the Society of Jesus, a Roman Catholic order of men noted for educational, charitable and missionary works and teachings," it further reads. Thus, the book is on rules on self-respect and respecting others, and etiquettes one should follow.
