Elnaaz Norouzi was one of the many fans who were eagerly waiting for the second instalment of 'Made In Heaven' series. Her happiness knew no bounds when she bagged a role in the second season and featured in the part directed by none other than Zoya Akhtar. In a candid chat with ETimes, the actress opened up about the much-awaited series, what went into creating her bridal look on the show, what the audience can expect and more. Excerpts...
The trailer of 'Made in Heaven 2' has been receiving positive responses from all sides. How does it feel?
It has been great and considering that I am a bride in the series but I had a prominent role in the trailer, it makes me very happy. We've all been waiting for it for such a long time, even as viewers. I felt it was a great, kick-ass trailer, very well cut.
How did you come on board for this project?
I was in Germany, and I remember Zoya Akhtar was looking for someone to do this role. She first wanted to cast Sonam Kapoor in this role. However, Sonam was busy or pregnant at that time; I really don't remember, but it didn't work out. Then I auditioned for this role, and she liked me. Zoya kept asking, 'Who's this girl? I really like her acting.' I wasn't really hopeful during the auditions. I obviously gave my best, but I never imagined I would get to join Zoya Akhtar's league. I am an outsider, and I am new. She was looking at big stars like Sonam. Despite everything, I auditioned for the role. When they got back to me and said they wanted me for this role, I lost my mind!
How was it working with an ace director like Zoya Akhtar?
Working with Zoya Akhtar is a dream come true, and she is fabulous. She is a boss lady and she knows what she wants. She gets it out of you in the most beautiful way. I couldn't have asked for anything better, honestly.
How was the ambience on the sets of MIH2? Can you share any fun or interesting anecdotes from the sets?
The ambience on set was great. Everyone was very friendly with each other. We were freezing because we were shooting in Nice, France. It was very cold, but it was beautiful. We were having a lot of fun. It was just one of those sets where you're not shooting. You are just hanging out with friends and everything is good. However, when we worked, we were all very professional. I grew up in Germany, where when you're working, everything is just work, work, work. This doesn't really happen much in India. I feel on the sets everyone's just so friendly with each other and everyone's just having fun. However, this one was just boom, boom. It was so professional.
How was Pulkit Samrat as a co-star?
Pulkit as a co-star was amazing. One thing I realized about Pulkit is that his love language is feeding people. He loves to order food for people, he loves to get chocolates for people, he loves to share his food and just feed people. That's what he was doing constantly on set and I love that about him. Everyone has a different way of showing affection and love to the team and to the people around them and I think Pulkit's way is feeding people.
From amongst other co-stars in the series, who did you bond the most with?
I really had a great time with Sobhita Dhulipala. I bonded a lot with Pulkit too. In the beginning, I felt like it might be a little hard to bond with him but then we found our ways. Srishti Behl is also in my episode and I bonded a lot with her. I had a good time with a lot of people. There's another person in the episode but it hasn't been revealed yet and it is a surprise. In all, I just had a great time with everyone to be honest.
You looked stunning as a bride in the trailer. What went into creating the look?
For me, as a bride, this was a tough one. We were really thinking a lot about what to do with it. I don't want to really reveal why we did this particular look, as you will get to know once you watch the episode but yeah there was a lot of thought that went into this bridal look, as to how do we make this special, how do we make it true to the character that I am actually playing. So the hair and makeup team, they've been amazing and I am so excited to see all the looks because you all haven't seen much in the trailer yet.
What were the challenges you faced while prepping up for your character or while shooting?
There were not many challenges honestly. It was easy for me to get into this character because it's very close to me.
What would you like to say to all the fans who are eagerly waiting to watch the second instalment?
Well, I was a fan myself of 'Made in Heaven season 1'. Not knowing I am gonna be in season 2, I was eagerly waiting for it. And now that I just know what's going down and what's happening in the series, I just know that the long wait for season 2 was really worth it.
