
Elmhurst University students have been asked to shelter in a locked room Wednesday afternoon after a man with a gun was reported on the west suburban campus.
The gunman was reportedly seen near Niebuhr Hall, a student dormitory, the university announced online just after 4 p.m.
Police were still checking all campus buildings as of 5:10 p.m., the university said.
Students have been asked to remain sheltered in a locked room until public safety officials declare the scene secure.
