Ellis Chapman's unexpected Emmerdale return date announced as Asan N'Jie is replaced

Ellis Chapman is making an unexpected return to Emmerdale after Asan N'Jie was recast - and it's coming very soon.

The shamed actor was sacked for threatening to stab and kill Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas at the TV Choice awards in September.

On Thursday, Emmerdale announced that Ellis would be making a shock comeback to the village after leaving to join mum Jessie Dingle in Dubai.

But he's had some plastic surgery on his travels as the character will now be played by Delicious and Doctors actor Aaron Anthony.

And viewers will be seeing Ellis back on their screens very soon as he will be back in December.

Ellis will return unannounced to the village next month - just as tensions between Al and Billy threaten to boil over.

On his new role, Aaron Anthony says: "Emmerdale is a cracking show with a brilliant cast that I'm over the moon to now be a part of.

"I know Ellis is a well loved character and I'm looking forward to continuing his journey and all that's in store for him."

Asan was slammed for his “unacceptable behaviour” and was called in by Emmerdale bosses to explain his actions before bing given the sack.

In a statement, ITV said: “Emmerdale suspended Asan N’Jie yesterday pending further investigation into an incident at a central London hotel on Monday night.

“ITV executives have met with him this morning and as a consequence Asan’s contract has been terminated with immediate effect.”

Soap bosses confirmed that Ellis would be staying on screen for another six weeks as it would be “virtually impossible” to remove his character from the forthcoming storylines without cancelling episodes.

At the time, a show source told the Mirror: “Asan will still appear in the episodes he has recorded which will air for the next six weeks or so.

“There have been some meetings to decide what to do and this seems the most sensible option. We regularly have to rewrite scenes due to cast sickness and so it is not as unusual as it sounds to be suddenly re-writing storylines.

“By next week we will be filming scenes which will help write out Ellis and explain his absence from the show for good.”

Emmerdale viewers did not get to see Ellis actually leave the village, as Billy announced he had jetted off to Dubai to join Jessie.

Guilt-ridden Asan explained he wanted “to learn” from his actions after his controversial behaviour at the star-studded bash.

In a grovelling statement, he said: “My behaviour at the TV Choice Awards was completely unacceptable and very much out of character.”

“I sincerely apologise to everybody who has been affected especially Jamie Lomas, the whole Emmerdale team, our audience, ITV, my family, and the organisers of the TV Choice Awards.

“I am devastated, accept full responsibility for my actions and I am determined to learn from this.”

The actor then broke his silence in October , by putting a positive spin on the events and revealing his hopes for the future.

"All the people who’ve reached out and had my back you’ll never know how much I appreciate you", he tweeted.

"I’ve learned, I’ve grown and now I’m working harder than ever to finish what I started. Keep you’re circle tight and always fall forward! [sic]"

He added: "The universe tends to unfold as it should."
