Ellis Genge tests positive for Covid as England rocked again on eve of Australia clash

England star Ellis Genge has tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of their autumn clash with Australia.

Eddie Jones' men take on the Wallabies on Saturday, but loose-head prop Genge will play no part after testing positive ahead of their captain's run.

The Rugby Football Union have announced that Genge has gone into isolation - with Bevan Rodd, called up this week replaces him in the starting lineup.

Newcastle's Trevor Davison, who earned his only England cap in July, replaces Rodd on the bench as England scramble to cover the front-row amid a loose-head shortage.

Joe Marler has already tested positive for Covid, while Lions prop Mako Vunipola is not in the squad.

A statement from the RFU said: “Genge returned a positive PCR result on Friday morning from a test taken on Thursday morning [11 November].

“He immediately went into isolation.

“No other positive test results were received among players or staff.

"The group has undergone an additional round of LFT and PCR testing today.

"The squad have trained this morning at Twickenham Stadium ahead of tomorrow’s match."

England captain Owen Farrell tested positive in the days before last week's match against Tonga, only for the three-time Lions tourist to still feature after it was deemed a false positive.
