He has won a Six Nations and played in a World Cup, but Ellis Genge will always remember this low-key summer with England.
Five years into his international career it is the first time he has been able to share the experience with his son.
The Leicester prop showed what it meant to him after last week’s win over the USA by staying out on the pitch with nine-month old Ragh for an extended period.
And he will have him back at Twickenham again today when England round off their season against Canada.
Genge said: “It was really nice last week to sit down, take it all in, forget about everything else and spend time with my boy.
“It is tough because they do a lot of growing up over the time you spend away from them.
“He started walking the other day and I missed that, he started saying ‘Dada, which was nice, but obviously I wasn’t there for that either.
“I just want to relish my time with him because I have only spent 20 minutes with him in the past month.”
Genge, 26, added: “I don’t want to sound like I am saying ‘little old me’. We all make sacrifices for work.
“But I have friends I won’t see for a very long time with moving up to Leicester, so I have learnt to make the most of the time you get with the people around you.”
