Elliot Anderson shrugs off loan interest after Newcastle United debut

Newcastle United debutant Elliot Anderson has spoken of his joy after fulfilling a boyhood dream.

The 18-year-old made his debut in the 2-0 defeat at Arsenal in the FA Cup third round at the Emirates Stadium.

Speaking after his Toon bow, Anderson said: “It’s a great feeling. To come on against a top club like Arsenal, and to play for your boyhood club, is something you dream of as a kid.

“I’m just really excited for the upcoming games.

"It’s everything I dreamed of as a kid, and to do it at 18 is something I’ll never forget.”

Anderson must now wait to see what happens next at United with clubs eager to sign him on loan from the Sky Bet Championship.

The teenager’s hopes of game-time in the FA Cup were dented by Arsenal’s two goals in extra time.

Anderson, speaking to the club’s TV channel, said: “I’m really excited about the coming games to see if I can stick around.”
