Elliot Anderson injury blow for Newcastle as hot prospect sidelined

Newcastle United youngster Elliot Anderson has been dealt a blow at the worst possible time after picking up an injury ahead of the final four games of the season.

The 18-year-old suffered a hip injury in training on Wednesday an could be out of contention for the trip to Leicester City.

Anderson was set to get a chance in the last few games, presumably once safety was secured in the top-flight, but Steve Bruce now says the youngster will be struggling for "couple of weeks".

Speaking at his Press conference, Bruce said: “He picked up a knock in the last game he played and it’s set him back a little bit.

"We’re not sure how bad it is but it’s a hip problem.

"He’s going to be struggling for the next couple of weeks.

“Unfortunately, he’s picked up a knock in the last game he played. That’s set him back a little bit. We’re not so sure how bad it is, but certainly he’s got a hip problem at the moment.

“We’re delighted with his progress – he’s only 18 – and he’s got a big future, we hope, as long as he keeps his head down and keeps working well. But, as I said, he’ll be struggling a bit for the next couple of weeks I would have thought.”

Meanwhile, Bruce has no other injuries ahead of the clash at the King Power Stadium this Friday night and says that everybody got through the Arsenal game unscathed.
