British singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding had discussed her all-consuming addiction to exercise.
The Starry Eyed singer, 33, disclosed how her passion for the gym soon took over the rest of her life and impacted her love for music.
Speaking to The Sun , Ellie said: "I don’t consider myself to have an addictive personality but I felt as though I did at one point have a gym addiction that was just not fun. I felt I had to go to the gym every single day."
The Anything Could Happen star added that she felt it was a survival instinct to cope with the lifestyle of touring, but it soon began to impact her career too.
She revealed: "...it got to the point where I was skipping the studio and skipping writing sessions to go to the gym, that was when it just wasn't worth it."
Ellie, who has her fourth album set for release on June 5, has given a great deal of credit to her ability to strike a balance in her life to her husband.
The singer married Sotheby’s art dealer Caspar Jopling last year in York, has been an inspiration in Ellie's healthy eating and 'biohacking', being the healthiest version of yourself.
"I've been really inspired by my husband because he is an athlete, he has been rowing for years," revealed Ellie.
She added: "I've been quite inspired by his amazing willpower and determination.”
The star also hinted that there are no plans for the couple to have a child yet and she questioned the lack of platform who were choosing to remain childless, in the short-term or long-term, compared to those going through motherhood.
"I just don’t think there is an equality in those two things," she concluded.
Ellie's latest single, Worry About Me, which features US singer Blackbear, is out now.
The song features on her still untitled fourth album, due out in June.
