Ellie Goulding rushes to rescue driver as Royal Mail truck pushes VW Golf down dual carriageway

Ellie Goulding rushed to the rescue of a VW Golf driver who was pushed along a dual carriageway by a Royal Mail lorry in a terrifying video.

Footage captured yesterday shows the truck pushing the car hundreds of yards down the A40 as other motorists honk their horns in a desperate bid to save the driver.

When the lorry driver comes screeching to a halt, the other motorists jump out of the car to check on the safety of the man in the Golf.

Ellie has revealed she is the woman in the video who rushes to the aid of the driver, before questioning why the man behind the camera was filming the shocking ordeal.

She can be seen walking around the scene of the incident in disbelief as the lorry driver throws his hands in the air, claiming he didn't see the man in the Golf.

"I didn't see him! I honestly didn't see him!" he protests after asking if the other driver was ok.

The cameraman argues with the Royal Mail worker as he opens the door of the Volkswagen and the car driver can be heard saying: "You spun me round."

After the video went viral Ellie took to her Instagram stories to call it the "craziest thing" she's ever seen on the road.

She explained: "I'm the one in the car checking this guy was ok - craziest thing I've ever seen on the road.

"Everyone was driving past but my driver Guy stopped.

"Drive safe and look out for others everyone".

She then criticised people for filming it instead of trying to help.

Ellie continued: "On a side note, I can't believe the first instinct of the other drivers who got out was to instantly start filming on their phones and shout abuse at the poor shocked driver.

"Not even checking the other driver was ok.

"What on earth."

TfL later reported a traffic jam where it happened close to the Hanger Lane roundabout.

Royal Mail have been reached for comment about the incident.
