Ellen Molloy named WNL Player of the Month following FAI Cup final masterclass

Wexford Youths playmaker Ellen Molloy has been named Women's National League Player of the Month for November.

The Kilkenny native starred as Youths overcame league winners Shelbourne in the FAI Cup final in Tallaght two weeks ago.

17-year-old Molloy was voted Player of the Match after providing assists for goals by Kylie Murphy and Edel Kennedy in the 3-1 win.

An FAI Cup medal capped off a successful individual season for the midfielder, who scored 14 goals in the league, just two behind golden boot winner Aine O'Gorman.

Molloy had been recalled to the Ireland senior squad for this month's World Cup qualifying double header with Slovakia and Georgia but picked up an injury late in the Cup final.

"It was a great season, especially capping it off with the Cup," Molloy told the FAI's official channel.

"I think we were a bit disappointed that we didn't challenge for the title a bit more towards the end but [it was] a great season overall."
