Defiant Ellen DeGeneres shows off new short hair transformation on return to show

Ellen DeGeneres has marked the end of a difficult few months by transforming her look.

The TV presenter, 62, showed off her new hairstyle on her TV show on Wednesday.

She has had her famous side fringe cropped in favour of a shorter new do, which had been slicked back into a quiff.

It comes after Ellen and her crew faced several allegations of a toxic work place, which included accusations of bullying.

Ellen addressed them when she returned to the air after her summer break and said she wasn't aware of what had been going on but vowed to sort it out.

And she seemed to be in high spirits as she returned for this week's show.

Ellen sported a white blazer and a patterned blue shirt for her appearance, pulling the look together with a pair of skinny jeans and some white trainers.

The new series of Ellen debuted to huge ratings last month, as viewers tuned in to watch her address the allegations.

She said: "How was everybody's summer? Good? Mine was great. Super terrific. I'm so happy to be back in the studio - there are a lot of things I want to talk about. I've been looking forward to addressing it all directly.

"Unfortunately talking directly to people had been illegal for six months, so I have a virtual audience here instead.

"As you may have heard, this summer there were allegations of a toxic work environment at our show. And then there was an investigation."

Ellen added: "I learned that things happened here that never should have happened. I take that very serious;y, and I want to say I am so sorry to the people who were affected.

"I know that I am in a position of privilege and power and I realise that with that comes responsibility, and I take responsibility at what happens at my show.

"This is The Ellen DeGeneres show. I am Ellen DeGeneres. We have had a lot of conversations over the last few weeks about the show, our workplace and what we want for the future. We have made the necessary changes and today, we are starting a new chapter."
