Ellen DeGeneres dares slimmed-down James Corden to do push-ups with his TV crew

Ellen DeGeneres challenged a slimmed-down James Corden to push-ups.

Talk show host James, 42, has shed more than a stone and a half after he embarked on a Weight Watchers diet in the new year and he has plans to lose more weight.

During The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday, the comedian accepted the challenge of doing push-ups with his crew just like Ellen does every day with her team after rehearsals.

In competitive spirit, Ellen's TV squad want to see how they compare to James' The Late Late Show crew when it comes to how many push-ups they can do.

"Are you up for that?" Ellen asked.

"Do I have to do it?" James questioned.

"Yeah," Ellen said.

"That does change things," James jested.

However, James — who was on the show to promote his film Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway — accepted the challenge for his TV team.

Admittedly Ellen said her TV crew "love" doing it and they perform the task every day.

She said: "We really love doing it. We started doing it a while back and we do it every day."

James joked he hoped to have shed another stone and a half so he should be able to do at least five push ups when he reunites with his TV squad.

He responded: "Well I'll be lighter by then so hopefully I'll have done another 20 lbs and then I'll at least be able to do five."

Elsewhere on the show, James teased a return for The Late Late Show segment Carpool Karaoke for the end of the summer.

Niall Horan, of One Direction fame, was latest celebrity to pick up the microphone in the car in March last year.

James said: “I don’t know really, we wonder when someone will tell us it’s OK. I don’t know, I’m hopeful for the end of summer or autumn time that we’ll be able to do it again.

“It feels like there’s a whole raft of artists that we’re desperate to do it with that have had the most incredible last few years.”

He added: “I hope so much we’ll be able to do it before the end of the year. I hope.”

The Ellen DeGeneres Show will end in 2022 after its 19 season.
