Ellen DeGeneres breaks silence on diva claims with thinly veiled jibes

Ellen DeGeneres appeared to break her silence on the recent diva claims brought against her with a thinly veiled message.

The US talk show host, 62, took to Instagram to share a video of herself building a Lego set, but some fans felt she looked like she was upset.

On the surface, it appears to be quite a straight-forward video.

But after she captioned it: "Don't count me out yet, LEGO," some people are convinced she was using it to address the claims.

Ellen, dressed in a black T-shirt with the word 'Staff' emblazoned across it in white capital letters, shows the progress of her build.

She tells fans: "Alright, it's coming along. You guys, I'm doing it.

"Ellen 'Do It' DeGeneres is doing it."

It's one of a string of videos The Ellen DeGeneres Show host has posted of her progress while working on the design at her home.

A debate began in the comments section.

Some felt Ellen looked sad in the video.

"She looks so sad," one commented.

Another hit out: "Must be super hard to fill all the time in quarantine with your billion dollar mansion and unlimited options"

People came to Ellen's defence though.

One fan commented: "People are posting crap in the comments need to be reported and blocked"

Another told her: "We love you so much. Thank you for making us smile everyday"

While one made reference to her Finding Nemo character Dory, telling her: "Just keep swimming! You’ve got this lol"

One wrote: "I’m glad you didn’t give up on yourself Ellen"

It comes after Ellen was called a diva in a Twitter thread that saw people who have worked alongside her post claims of her bad behaviour online.

It all started when comedian Kevin T Porter dubbed her "one of the meanest people alive" and asked others to share stories.

He pledged to donate $2 to the Los Angeles foodbank for every story.

He wrote on Twitter: "Right now we all need a little kindness. You know, like Ellen Degeneres always talks about!

"She’s also notoriously one of the meanest people alive Respond to this with the most insane stories you’ve heard about Ellen being mean & I’ll match every one w/ $2 to @LAFoodBank."

People quickly came forward to share their experiences.

One claimed: "A) She has a "sensitive nose" so everyone must chew gum from a bowl outside her office before talking to her and if she thinks you smell that day you have to go home and shower."

Another wrote: "I was PAing for the Letterman special and her rider was 50 items long and one was specific vegan cauliflower puffs that are rarely sold so i had to drive to 15 different grocery stores to find it and she didn’t even touch them."

A third posted: "I was her agents exec asst for a year, so many! 1st thing you learn on the desk is if he was on a call w another client You have to beep in & say 'your kids on the other line, it’s an emergency' so he could take the call as she could never be called back bc she would fire him lol."

"She had a PA fired from a commercial for leading her to set the "long" way," another alleged.

Writing about Ellen and her wife Portia de Rossi, another claimed: "I worked @RealFoodDaily, served her & Porsha at brunch. She wrote a letter to the owner & complained about my chipped nail polish (not that it was on her plate but just that it was on my hand). I had worked till closing the night before & this was next morn, almost got me fired."

Mirror Online has contacted Ellen's representatives for comment.
