Ellen Degeneres announces her show's return with a helping hand from John Legend and Chrissy Teigen

Ellen DeGeneres has confirmed the return of her chat show with a helping hand from Chrissy Teigen and John Legend.

In a video recorded in her living room, DeGeneres announced that her show would return today, with episodes recorded remotely and interviews with celebrities conducted over video chat.

Tomorrow, my show is back. Isn’t that right, @JohnLegend and @ChrissyTeigen?” DeGeneres wrote on Twitter.

In the video, DeGeneres says she wants her show to offer a “distraction” from whatever is “unpleasant” in the world.

“If you're feeling down I want to lift you up, if you're feeling trapped I want to set you free, if you feel like you're going in the wrong direction, I want you to back that thing up,'' she said.

"It is a strange time, and this is what we have to do right now."

In the clip, she offers a tease at an interview with Legend and Teigen, who are seen being overwhelmed by their energetic puppy.

“Look at this beast!” says Teigen as the dog hugs her. “Ellen, what did you do?”

In a video announcement on Instagram, DeGeneres said: “We’re going to be doing interviews and it’s going to be fun.”

It was announced last week that DeGeneres would be bringing her show back with remotely recorded episodes, while fellow daytime TV host Wendy Williams would be doing the same.

As well as Teigen and Legend, Degeneres’ first episode will feature interviews with Jennifer Lopez, Drew Brees and David Spade.

“Since going into quarantine two weeks ago, I’ve been doing my show at home every day. But only for Portia. Starting Monday, you’ll be able to see it, too, and I can’t wait,” DeGeneres said in a statement.

DeGeneres has been keeping her fans updated with lockdown updates, recently revealing her failed attempts to complete a 4000 word puzzle.
