Aussie fashionista and OG influencer Elle Ferguson has clapped back at haters who attempted to drag her for her lilac Loewe dress that broke the internet.
In early August, Ferguson divided the internet after she posted a video sporting a low plunge, lilac dress from Loewe’s 2025 fall collection — which was also a piece from Jonathan Anderson last collection with the luxury fashion house.
Alongside the dream-worthy dress, Feguson wore a pair of fluffy heels.
“All I can say is THE LILAC @loewe dress is even better in real life,” Ferguson wrote.
“Such a dream to experience @jonathan.anderson last collection in real life and get to play dress ups with the collection.”

Shortly after sharing the piece with her 662K followers, some folks came forward, claiming that the outfit was a fashion faux pas, while some trolls made more sinister comments regarding her body.
Now, Ferguson has come forward, taking aim at the online trolls, describing Anderson’s Loewe piece as the “most beautiful dress”.
Elle Ferguson claps back at the haters
Speaking to the Sunday Confidential, the Elle Effect founder expressed that she didn’t realise her dress kicked up an online fuss until the day after she posted it.
“The only thing I was thinking when I put this dress on is that I was exceptionally lucky to be looking at Jonathan Anderson’s last collection with Loewe,” Ferguson shared.
“It was the most beautiful dress hanging on the hanger… and I didn’t get to see it when it was in Paris.
“When the dress was in Sydney, I asked if I could try it on and they were like, ‘Yes go for it.'”
Regardless of what online trolls have had to say about her outfit, Ferguson stood by Anderson’s work, reiterating that she “loves” the lilac number and that the online reaction was similar to the reception Jennifer Lopez copped for her 42nd Grammys Versace green dress.

“Nobody told me to put that dress on,” she continued.
“I loved that dress. I still love that dress. I put it on and I stood there proudly. Joel [Patfull, her fiancé] loved it when I put it on and said I looked like a supermodel.
“Everything on Instagram was extremely positive. It wasn’t until news sites took a different angle… that it took a turn from being positive to everyone having an opinion on the dress.”
Furthermore, Ferguson reiterated that fashion was an art form, therefore, it’s subjective and thought-provoking. However, she slammed those who were “tearing a woman down” for wearing a dress.
”Fashion is art and art is subjective,” Ferguson added.
“Art starts conversations. But I don’t think there’s any place for negative comments or tearing a woman down for wearing a dress.
“Right now, more than ever, it is important for us women to be able to wear what we want. What I have a really big problem [with] is when I looked at who is writing the negative comments. Most of them are middle-aged women, and there is no space for that anymore.”
“Some of the comments, I thought, ‘Wow these people must live a very lonely and boring life.’”
In the lord’s year of 2025, it absolutely sucks that people pick on others when it comes to their outfit choices. At the end of the day, what we were doesn’t hurt anyone — let alone a Loewe dress.
Good on Ferguson for clapping back and calling out those who attempted to bring her down, not only for her dress but also for her physical appearance. Power to her.
