Elizabeth Warren Slams Trump's 'Pattern of Corruption,' Cites United Airlines, Toyota $1 Million Inauguration Donations

United States President Donald Trump meets with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the White House

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) criticized President Donald Trump, accusing the White House of enacting favorable policies for businesses that donated millions of dollars to the Trump Inauguration Fund.

Pattern of Corruption

In a post on X on Wednesday, Warren outlined that businesses like United Airlines Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:UAL) and Delta Air Lines Inc. (NYSE:DAL) had donated $1 million to the administration. “Trump ended flight cancelation compensation rules,” as a result, Warren said.

Warren had earlier shared that airlines would not be liable to compensate travelers with cash refunds for canceled or severely delayed flights. However, the rule remains in effect.

The Trump administration, on the other hand, had decided to rescind a separate rule that requires airlines to compensate travelers with additional refunds, as well as hotel bookings and more.

The Massachusetts senator also said that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s (CFPB) enforcement action against Toyota Motor Corp. (NYSE:TM), which directed the automaker to initiate refunds “for overcharged borrowers,” was also withdrawn by the Trump administration because Toyota donated $1 million. “It’s a pattern of corruption that costs you money,” Warren said.

The White House, United Airlines, Delta Airlines and Toyota did not immediately respond to Benzinga‘s request for comment.

The CFPB had imposed $60 million in consumer redress and penalties on the Toyota Motor Credit Corporation, the automaker’s financing arm, after it was found that the company prevented borrowers from canceling product bundles that increased their monthly car loan payments.

FAA Proposes Faster Launch Licenses

Meanwhile, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) had earlier proposed a series of changes designed to accelerate commercial space mission approvals by allowing companies to circumvent 13 Federal and environmental protection laws. The agency had touted the move as a means to “simplify and expedite” commercial space licensing.
