Elizabeth Olsen says growing up as a child star was ‘very scary’

Elizabeth Olsen has reflected on her experience of being a child star, calling it “weird” and “very scary”.

The actor, who is the younger sister of twin stars Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson, has been appearing in films and on television since she was a toddler.

Her most notable adult roles include Wind River and the Avengers films.

Olsen’s older siblings attracted huge fame in the 2000s after they started acting aged four. The Olsen twins starred together in TV series and films into their teenage years. They are now fashion designers.

“It’s weird growing up with that,” Olsen told Jessie Ware’s Table Manners podcast. “The paparazzi part was the strange part because they follow you, and as a child it was very scary. They were obsessed with them turning 18.”

Olsen can next be seen reprising her role as Wanda Maximoff in the Disney+ series WandaVision.

Marvel’s first show – which debuts on 15 January – is one of the studio’s most highly anticipated releases this year, with early reviews calling it “weird as hell, in a good way”.

It also stars Paul Bettany as superhero Vision and another mysterious cast member, who Bettany recently hinted at in an interview.
