Elizabeth Hurley’s son Damian Hurley recreates her legendary Versace safety pin dress

Elizabeth Hurley’s son Damian Hurley is making waves this month. Last week he made his modeling debut in an advertisement for Pat McGrath’s new foundation range, where he channelled his famous actress mother by rocking an impressive bouffant. And now, he's recreating her most famous look.

Hurley visited the Selfridges London Pat McGrath flagship counter to preview the foundation - and he wore an outfit that would make his mother proud.

The model opted for a bespoke, thoroughly modern Versace suit that paid homage to his mother’s iconic Versace look - and on the 25th anniversary of her ensemble, no less.

His mother first wore the memorable dress to the premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral, which she attended with then boyfriend Hugh Grant. Fittingly, Four Weddings was recently rebooted for Hulu - the younger Hurley should have rocked his Versace moment on that red carpet.

McGrath sang her young muse’s praises. “It's no surprise that as the offspring of the ever-gorgeous Elizabeth Hurley, Damian is a bright, young emerging star who has incredible energy, a wonderfully magnetic personality, and an exceptional look,” McGrath said in a press release.

This isn’t the first time the dress has received an update. In March, Elizabeth revealed a new version of the dress, which was part of the Versace pre-fall 2019 collection.

“I urgently needed to find a dress to wear for Hugh’s premiere, and in those days I had no idea about fashion. I remember going to an office where they literally fished a dress out of a white plastic bag,” she told Harper’s Bazaar about the original dress. The plastic bag dress was later on display at the Victoria and Albert Museum in 2002 and then worn by Lady Gaga in 2012.

Now, the legendary dress lives on - although someone's going to have to update its Wikipedia page.
