Elizabeth Hurley reveals 'heartache' as she can't make it for ex Shane Warne's funeral

Elizabeth Hurley shared her 'heartache' as she won't be able to make it for her ex-fiancé Shane Warne 's funeral in Australia.

The 56-year-old and the late cricketer dated for several years and were engaged between 2011 and 2013.

Shane died at the age of 52 earlier this month while he was on holiday in Koh Samui in Thailand.

Elizabeth shared a few photos from their engagement photoshoot in Sri Lanka and wrote a tribute post.

"My heart aches that I can’t be in Australia tomorrow for Shane’s funeral," the actress wrote.

"I was filming last night and, with the time jump, physically can’t get there. These pictures were taken in Sri Lanka to celebrate our engagement- we had all our children with us and it was the happiest time.

"It still hasn’t really sunk in that he’s gone. It seems too cruel that all the people who loved him will never have another Lion hug, but our memories will live forever.

"RIP Lionheart, with love your Luna."

Fans and friends, including Joan Collins, Caroline Stanbury and more, took to the comment section to pay their respects.

" Life can be so cruel! Cherish the memories!" a fan wrote. "What a legacy Shane has left! So sorry for your loss! Beautiful photo to cherish forever!"

Another said: "My condolences to you and Shane's family. Losing someone you love is always heartbreaking."

Following his death, Shane's management released a statement.

They said: "It is with great sadness we advise that Shane Keith Warne passed away of a suspected heart attack in Koh Samui, Thailand today, Friday 4 March.

"Shane was found unresponsive in his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived. The family requests privacy at this time and will provide further details in due course."

He is survived by his three children Brooke, Summer and Jackson.

Warne is the greatest leg-spinner of all time, having taken 708 Test match wickets, a figure only surpassed by Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan.

A day after his death, Elizabeth took to her Instagram to share a few of her favourite pictures of her time with the cricketer.

In a short but sweet message, Liz wrote: "I feel like the sun has gone behind a cloud forever. RIP my beloved Lionheart."
