Elite facilities promised at new Everton stadium as defender names toughest opponent

As the World Cup finally comes to a conclusion, it's time for your Everton FC morning headlines on Monday, December 19.

'Going to blow people away' - Everton supporters sent exciting new stadium update

Everton’s supporters will be blown away by the facilities at the club’s new Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium.

That’s according to Tom Higgins, a director at Laing O’Rourke, who has provided an update on the development and outlined the importance of the project to Everton supporters.

Higgins’ comments came before the Blues provided two major updates around the development last week. The first was that a 100-tonne bridge deck is being constructed at the stadium to provide a vital link to the scenic western wharf in the final scheme.

Everton also revealed that the concrete bridge in the north west corner, which will eventually provide part of the route for the team coaches arriving at the stadium, is being put in place early into the build to assist with the flow of site traffic.

And a change to the original design means the new bridge, which complements the existing isolation structure in the south west of the site, meets sustainability measures by improving the flow of water through neighbouring docks and helping to stimulate marine life.

While on Thursday, it was revealed that the first full-span roof truss has been completed at the site. In what was described as a 'another milestone moment in the development' by the club, the third 100-tonne connecting piece was lifted into position in the north stand on Tuesday morning.

'A different level' - Nathan Patterson names Liverpool winger as toughest Everton opponent

Everton full-back Nathan Patterson has named a star of Merseyside rivals Liverpool as the toughest opponent he has faced since joining the Blues.

Patterson made the switch from Ibrox to Goodison Park in January, signing a five-year deal with the Toffees. After a period of adaption to English football and a spell on the side lines with an ankle injury that required surgery, Patterson eventually made his first team Premier League debut against Chelsea on August 6 and has since gone on to make 12 appearances in all competitions this season.

But when asked which opposition player has presented him with the greatest challenge so far in his short Everton career, Liverpool's Luis Diaz was the answer.

As reported by the Daily Record, Patterson said: “The Premier League is a different level, even from playing at Rangers. There’s at least 50,000 in the different stadiums every week so it’s great to have that pressure on you. Playing against top players every week is only going to benefit me.
