Three-star defensive back recruit Daniel Okonkwo has flipped from the Northern Illinois Huskies to the Georgia Bulldogs. Okonkwo changed his commitment on the first day of the early signing period.
Okonkwo is Georgia’s 28th commitment in the class of 2025. Georgia currently has the nation’s No. 3 recruiting class behind the Texas Longhorns and Alabama Crimson Tide.
The 6-foot, 190-pound defensive back prospect had been committed to Northern Illinois since October. Okonkwo announced his decision to flip to Georgia via social media.
It is unclear if the three-star recruit will have a full scholarship or if Georgia’s collective will pay for him and he’ll being a walk-on.
“After a great conversation with Coach Robinson and Coach Smart, I am verbally flipping my commitment to the University of Georgia,” said Okonkwo via social media.
Okonkwo plays high school football for Hillgrove High School in Powder Springs, Georgia. The three-star defensive back is ranked as the No. 748 recruit in the nation and the No. 64 safety. Okonkwo is the No. 88 prospect in Georgia, per 247Sports.
Okonkwo still has not signed with Georgia, but is a solid addition to the Bulldogs class of 2025.
