Elite 5-star linebacker from Utah includes Ohio State in final eight schools

The recruiting news was not too kind to Ohio State Sunday, but there was a bit of good news in the afternoon. That’s because five-star inside linebacker prospect Noah Sewell included the Buckeyes in his final eight schools.

The other schools in Sewell’s final eight include LSU, Alabama, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Florida, Georgia, and Oregon. At 6-2, 266 lbs., Sewell has the size to play as a traditional middle of the field linebacker that can shed tackles and work his way through traffic.

He is currently rated as the No. 2 inside linebacker and 23rd overall recruit in the class of 2020 according to 247Sports.

It would be interesting to see where and how Ohio State would make room for him, but you don’t pass up a talent like Sewell — if he even chooses to continue to give the Buckeyes a look. Space is running tight for the 2020 class, and the staff would most likely have to shuffle some things around if they were to get positive news going forward.

So what kind of chance does Ohio State have? We’ll call it a significant underdog at this point. Sewell is from out West so that already puts it behind the eight-ball location wise. There’s also a slew of SEC teams in the mix which is always like running uphill against a stiff wind that has an aroma of sweet tea and grits.

Regardless, we’ll stay on top of any list that gets culled down here. Oregon appears to be the early leader in the clubhouse, but that’s just it — early.
